Turns out it's rather impossible to find a job in the US as a "Communist" :P So I thought I'd give WA a try. Any thoughts?
Have a green Holden for your troubles.

I'm actually looking for jobs in Portland,Maine (not sure if that was the Portland you meant), the problem is that it's a HUGE hassle to get a work permit in the US.

What kind of work are you looking to do? I still have a contact or two that may/may not be able to assist, depending on your background and preferred work

Hehe :) Yeah. But really, I've met so many "'muricans" that thinks everyone in Norway are communists you won't even believe it.

I can do anything really, but my background is in sales. The problem is that I dropped out of school. I do speak English almost fluent though, so that's a bonus I guess :P

I can nearly guarantee you have a better grasp of the English language than 40% of the people here at least :)
Sales is a really hard one to get a Visa for

My thought was since I've worked in sales I could probably do stuff like being a secretary or something. Hell, I'd drive a bloody lorry if it comes down to that. I know my chances won't be good in Australia, but I'm willing to take whatever job I can get. :P

I thought that Norwegians still had pretty good reputation all around the world despite your slightly weird economic system. But getting hired nowadays into a good profession is pretty hard.

We do, but without an education you're pretty much useless. I hated school, so I quit.. Regret it now though.

Yes, that's probably going to be problem when you are seeking a job from abroad. Getting hired just by your skills is possible but really difficult. Maybe some precision craftsmanship related profession doesn't care what you have studied or not.

Yeah, and the problem is that I'm not a craftsman. I'm just a REALLY good salesman. I could sell ice on Greenland me, but that is not something you'd see on a Résumé is it.

Well that's one skill that should be useful. And lack of education shouldn't be terribly bad thing in that. But "selling" your skills is still the first obstacle.

Yeah, and I'm not all that comfortable about the whole "selling myself" stuff. We'll see though, we'll see.
My main goal is to pass the language barrier, if/when I do that it should be plain sailing.

I suppose it depends on where you're trying to get a job. Hiring people overseas is a huge risk for most businesses. If you're going to be in front of people or have to work in a team, they may not even hire native US citizens who have accents or different cultural experiences. It's a very "you need to fit our culture" sorta of thing.

Would you say that me talking to them on the phone = a good thing? I can't emulate American dialects, I sound pretty much like someone from Northern London...

Not talking on the phone or on video conference probably would hurt your chances more than anything else. It makes things highly impersonal.

Portland, Oregon is awesome. It's very accepting of "different" people, other cultures, styles, etc. It's probably one of the least 'murican cities in the US. And the job market is pretty decent as well. Craigslist will be your friend for this. Disclaimer: I may or may not reside thereabouts.
